Mel was racing on the sand at Daytona Beach with NASCAR in 1949!!
Needless to say, he was SLIGHTLY ahead on the driving curve when he began racing at Playland, Mel had a lond and distinguished racing career!! He is an energetic and very friendly guy. He is a real pleasure to talk to and his memory of past races is unreal!!
